Dress(es) of the Week: Kitty Chen

It seems like I use the same words in every Friday's blog post: Stunning, dreamy, wow, drool...

Well, this week I am going to keep these words to myself but to tell you the truth, I am absolutely thinking these words. Here are some pictures of Kitty Chen's 2013 Bridal Collection. (Stunning, dreamy, wow, drool...)

Wedding Nail Trends 2013

WEDDING TREND ALERT: This time with your wedding nails. You will want to have nice nails because your photographer will be taking lots of pictures of your wedding ring and you and your groom holding hands! Here are the trends!

Pearly-white nails are always in style, complements your wedding gown, and add just the right touch of bright. Apply one coat for a subtle look, two for more shine.

French Manicure with a Matte-Shiny Finish It's created by applying a matte topcoat over your favourite glossy polish, just enough to leave the tips shiny. Brilliant!

A Hint of Pink

The New Nude - The faintest shade of neutral that resembles to what the Duchess of Cambridge wore at her wedding!

My favorite trend and the one I want to try out the most! Ultra-Hot white beads on nude nails.

If you want to try out this trend, you can get the micro beads from Ciate. It is called their caviar manicure. Check out this video for a quick tutorial and see if you are up for it!

Wishahmon's New Blog Schedule

At the end of the 2012, we blogged that we will be approaching 2013 with open minds and open hearts and we will look forward to all the new experiences, opportunities, and relationships!

The last two months have been hectic as more brides have visited the Wishahmon - Glorious Gowns showroom to find their dream gown at a fraction of retail cost (couldn't resist putting in this plug-in); meeting industry peeps about future collaborations; and brainstorming marketing ideas and promotions that we want to launch.

With these new experiences and opportunities, we are making adjustments to our attitudes, time management, and blogging schedule. Previously, we had too many specific days for specific blog topics. (Great names though! Tasty Tuesdays, Thematic Thursdays, and Fashion Fridays.) Plus, "Tasty Tuesdays" was tough to write on an empty stomach.

We are going to try out this new schedule for now:
  • Mondays: Guest bloggers, special announcements, and promotion announcements.
  • Wednesdays: Anything to do with putting together your wedding theme. (Finally! We can blog about flowers!)
  • Fridays: Fashion Fridays! (Yea! Keeping one name!)
Hopefully, this new blog schedule will work out. If not, we will readjust again. Life is all about adjusting and not stressing right?

Bridal Hair: DIY Chignon

I have always loved the look of a chignon but never knew what it was called to tell my hairstylist or search it on youtube. I always called it a "bun." However, there are lots of different styles of "bun" out there and you really have no chance of having a hair professional understand what you truly mean and want.

Now that I know what they are called, I am certain I am now pronouncing it wrong. BUT! At least I am a step closer now. Here are some pictures of chignon that you might want to consider showing your hair stylist for your bridal updo. There is even a DIY tutorial at the end of the post if you want to attempt it youself. For the first time, I think I might have found an updo where the more hair you have the better! Yea!

Bridesmaid Dress Trends 2013

Without a doubt, you are the main actress on your wedding day. Your bridesmaids are your supporting actresses. They have your best interests in mind and will do everything in their power to make sure you look stunning. Wouldn't you want them to look and feel great too?

Back in the days, after you select your bridesmaids you would ask them all to go to one boutique with you and try on the dress that you chose. All the bridesmaids would be wearing the same dress. The bridesmaid are there not really for their opinion of the dress but to be measured for sizing and to pay for their dress. This former tradition has been made into many jokes in movies such as 27 Dresses and Bridesmaids.

The new trend is for the bride to chose the color and suggest the length or style. (Did you catch the part where I said "suggest?") This is honestly the best way to chose dresses that fit the figure of the bridesmaid and to keep friendships and relationships! Check out the different ways of coordinating all your supporting ladies!

Bridal Hairstyles 2013

It has finally come to my realization that great hair styles takes work. Not to mention some hair products, tools, pins, and healthy hair. I tell people that my hairstyle is simply "my style". In reality, my hairstyle is what it is because I don't know what to do with "my mop."

(Before)

Not willing to lose to my hair, I have found some pictures of potential hairstyles that I am going to tackle. These are the top bridal hairstyles of 2013 too! I admit that my chances of success are slim. However, if any of you brides out there succeed with any of these styles do share! I would love to hear all about your hair battle and success. (I don't know how this blog post ended up sounding like a hair war!)

Good luck!

Romantic Waves DIY Tutorial

Over the last couple of months, I have been watching youtube videos on how I can curl my hair to get romantic waves in my hair. I have tried to use my curling iron, flat iron, braiding my hair, putting my hair in a bun, and sleeping with my hair wet in these bizarre brides and buns! There has been a lot of sleepless nights without a lot of benefit to my hair and overall look. Great hair with dark circles around my eyes is not the look I am going for!

I read numerous blogs daily to get inspiration. Then finally it hit me that brides are probably wanting romantic waves to complete their wedding look too! Through Bridal Musings, I found an awesome DIY tutorial done by Severin Hubert, hair stylist and director of the The Hepburn Collection. Good luck! Let me know how it goes! (If it goes well for me, I will take a picture and post it on instagram!)
