It has been a month since we blogged about Carisa and Richard's wedding planning adventures. This is mostly because we have been on track and getting things cross off the wedding planning list! If you are also getting married in August and have been following our blog, you should also be on track! High five!
With three to five months before your wedding, most wedding checklists suggest that you start creating a wedding day timeline. This timeline should outline all the events of the day, when vendors are supposed to set up/show up/take down, and where the wedding party should be throughout the day. When fully completed, it should be shared with your wedding party and maybe vendors such as your photographer. Be sure to include everyone's telephone numbers on it too. Also, be sure to ask for everyone's permission to do so as well! (One of my clients actually had everyone's picture on the timeline too, since most of them haven't met each other! Great idea! Lucky for me, they picked a fairly flattering picture of me!)
For Carisa and Richard's wedding, a timeline was actually created very early in the wedding planning process. We wanted to know how long we need certain vendor services for and vendors also wanted to know of the timing of the event. (Some vendors book several weddings in one day!)
If your vendors are also asking you for timing, you might also want to start creating your timeline early. Having done it early, it allows you to fit in other vendors and events easily. It also puts you MONTHS ahead of the game and saves you time to work on custom wedding projects (like the one below)!

If you missed the first couple of blog posts on Carisa and Richard's wedding planning adventures, you can catch up on how they got engaged, set the date, found a venue, found a marriage commissioner, found a photographer, sent out invitations, took care of out of town guests, found a DJ, found a wedding gown, found a wedding cake, designed their décor, chose their flowers and booked hair and makeup artists.
