Wedding Traditions to Ditch (Part 2)

It is overwhelming when you are a newly engaged bride and every one is telling you what you should traditionally do. This is part two of the series that share with you my thoughts on the wedding traditions that should be or can be ditched. If you missed part one, here it is.

Keeping your fiance from seeing your wedding gown
The tradition says it is unlucky for the groom to see the bride before the wedding. Having said this, a lot of brides are disregarding this tradition because they want their fiance's input on their wedding gown. They don't want to risk choosing a gown their fiance might hate seeing. (I assure all of my brides that won't happen. I also tell my brides if their wedding gown makes their butt look big too.) At Wishahmon, we have seen a bunch of grooms come with their bride to find their wedding gown. As far as I know, it wasn't unlucky and they are still very much in love.

Having all your bridesmaids match perfectly
You can say this isn't technically a tradition rather than a trend, but this so called trend is what brides come to expect when choosing bridesmaid dresses. This tradition/trend makes no sense if your bridesmaids were or weren't the same weight and height. There is no way the same dress would look good on everyone on every body!

Having your father walk you down the aisle
I have nothing against this tradition if you had a loving relationship with your father and want him to walk you down the aisle. However, if your father has passed on or your father wasn't a large part of your life, it is absolutely ok to have another person (male or female) have this honor. This is your wedding and include all the supportive and loving people you want on this special day.
